Tye is a theoretical physicist. His research includes elementary particle physics, cosmology and string theory.
His recent interest focuses on the brane world, the cosmic landscape, brane inflation, and cosmic strings.
In particular, the cosmic strings produced towards the end of brane inflation may be detected in the near future.
The signatures/detections of cosmic strings will open an observational window to the superstring theory.
