    1. If the enemy is in range, so are you.
    2. Incoming fire has the right of way.
    3. Don't look conspicuous, it draws fire.
    4. There is always a way.
    5. The easy way is always mined.
    6. Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.
    7. Professionals are predictable, it's the amateurs that are dangerous.
    8. The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions:
      1. when you are ready for them
      2. when you are not ready for them
    9. Teamwork is essential, it gives them someone else to shoot at.
    10. If you can't remember, then the claymore is pointed at you.
    11. The enemy diversion you have been ignoring will be the main attack.
    12. A "sucking chest wound" is nature's way of telling you to slow down.
    13. If your attack is going well, you have walked into an ambush.
    14. Never draw fire, it irritates everyone around you.
    15. Anything you do can get you shot, including nothing.
    16. Make it tough enough for the enemy to get in and you won't be able to get out.
    17. Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than yourself.
    18. If you're short of everything but the enemy, you're in a combat zone.
    19. When you have secured an area, don't forget to tell the enemy.
    20. Never forget that your weapon is made by the lowest bidder.
    21. If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.

  14. All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
    1. Share everything.
    2. Play fair.
    3. Don't hit people.
    4. Put things back where you found them.
    5. Clean up your own mess.
    6. Don't take things that aren't yours.
    7. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
    8. Wash your hands before you eat.
    9. Flush.
    10. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
    11. Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
    12. Take a nap every afternoon.
    13. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
    14. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
    15. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup--they all die. So do we.
    16. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned--the biggest word of all--LOOK.

  28. All I Need To Know About Life I Learned From the "Instruction Manual"


    1. Sometimes not all the parts are there
    2. If at first you don't succeed, reread the "tools needed" page
    3. If you still don't succeed, just turn to page two
    4. Duct tape is your friend
    5. Sometimes you just have to toss the instruction manual out the window
    6. Just remember, diagrams and words don't always go together
    7. You can never have too much glue
    8. All problems can be solved with a hammer, some nails and some duct tape
    9. All instruction manuals look better when they have color pictures
    10. Sometimes following the pictures makes more sense than following the written instructions
    11. Keep all receipts
    12. Cheap good, cheap bad
    13. If the project doesn't look like the picture, put a plant on top of it
    14. If the shelves are a little crooked, put it against the wall
    15. If the shelves are really crooked, the floor's not level
    16. A little paint and no one will ever see the nail holes
    17. A little decorative touch will hide any construction flaws
    18. You will always be short one peg - so improvise!
    19. You can build anything with a hammer, a Phillips screwdriver, a couple of screws, some paint and a little imagination.
    20. The furniture you build is never ugly
    21. When all else fails, take it apart and start over
    22. "Pre-drilled holes" means you're going to need to do some serious work
    23. "Pre-set nail holes" aren't pre-set
    24. The pieces are always heavier once they're out of the box
    25. "Easy to install paneling" isn't easily installed
    26. Nails will solve any construction problem
