Cloud Chamber Status
- The proposal awarded April 1998
- We had a succesful prototype built over the summer operating on dry
ice by our summer students Sam Pruitt and Mike Simpson. Read all about it in their final report.
- A permanent 2' X 2' Copper cold plate built. Using dual stage compressors
(high stage compressor with MP-39 and low stage compressor with R-503), this
plate has the potential to go down to -70F! Many thanks to Andy Gimbar and
his crew, Steve and Rich, from the Cornell Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
center for building the unit and donating their time and resources for a good
cause!
