Ithaca Chapter of Amnesty International to Hold Vigil and Write-a-thon

The Ithaca Chapter of Amnesty International, together with the Living Wage Coalition/Workers’ Rights Center, invites you to celebrate International Human Rights Day, December 10, with a candlelight vigil and messages of hope to prisoners of conscience around the world.

 We will begin with a candlelight vigil for human rights Friday, December 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Bernie Milton (Central) Pavilion on the Commons in downtown Ithaca.

Throughout the weekend, December 10-12, we will also have a self-serve write-a-thon table in the Workers’ Rights Center, second floor of Autumn Leaves Used Books, on the Commons, downtown Ithaca. Write-a-thon hours are 5-9 p.m. Friday, 12/10; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 12/11; and 11a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, 12/12. Visitors are encouraged to send holiday greetings to prisoners of conscience and human rights defenders around the world. Postage and cards are provided.

All it takes is a few minutes of your time to make a world of difference to someone unjustly imprisoned. Come and celebrate the 56^th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations. For information call 256-0050.
