Ithaca Chapter of Amnesty International to Hold Vigil and Write-a-thon

The Ithaca Chapter of Amnesty International, together with the Living Wage Coalition/Workers’ Rights Center, invites you to celebrate International Human Rights Day, December 10, with a candlelight vigil and messages of hope to prisoners of conscience around the world.

We will begin with a candlelight vigil for human rights Friday, December 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Bernie Milton (Central) Pavilion on the Commons in downtown Ithaca.

Throughout the weekend, December 10-12, we will also have a self-serve write-a-thon table in the Workers’ Rights Center, second floor of Autumn Leaves Used Books, on the Commons, downtown Ithaca. Write-a-thon hours are 5-9 p.m. Friday, 12/10; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 12/11; and 11a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, 12/12. Visitors are encouraged to send holiday greetings to prisoners of conscience and human rights defenders around the world. Postage and cards are provided.

All it takes is a few minutes of your time to make a world of difference to someone unjustly imprisoned. Come and celebrate the 56th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations. For information call 256-0050.
