American Linear Collider Workshop

The American Linear Collider Workshop will take place July 13-16, 2003 on the Cornell University campus. Cornell is located in Ithaca, New York, in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes.

The plenary sessions will take place in Olin Hall and the parallel sessions will take place in Sage Hall.

Accommodations for the meeting are available at a dormatory on the Cornell campus and at several local hotels. The dorm is adjacent to the meeting rooms, and short walk from the shops and restaurants of Collegetown, the Cornell student district. The hotels are within a couple of miles of the meeting rooms. Bus service will be provided between the hotels and meeting locations at the beginning and end of each day.

Lunch will be provided. To find it, walk up the broad pedestrian boulevard past the clock tower to the Arts Quad, and look for the Tent.

There will be a Welcome Reception on Saturday evening from 6:00- 8:30 PM. It will be at the Arts Quad tent. To get there, walk to the base of McGraw Tower (the clocktower) and follow signs. Parking is available in the Willard Straight, Sage and Hughes Hall lots, or you can take the shuttle bus from your hotel to campus.

On Monday, there will be a Barbeque at Robert Treman State Park (with hiking and swimming at the bottom of a waterfall for the adventurous), and on Tuesday evening, a Banquet at the Willard Straight Hall on the Cornell campus.

Weather

At this time of year, the average high temperature is in the lower 80's and the average night-time low is about 60 degrees Farenheit. The average monthly rainfall is 3.5 inches. That said, weather can be variable in Ithaca. Typically, the temperature tops 90F twice in July. (For the curious: as long as anyone's been keeping records, there's been no July snow.) Getting Around

Information on getting to Ithaca is available here. We will provide shuttle buses between the conference and some hotels. You may also drive, but be forewarned that parking at Cornell can be tight.
