Vacuum Out-gassing and Photo-Cathode Quantum Efficiency Mentor: Yulin Li This project consists of two parallel sub-projects. In the first part, we will study ways to produce and to measure extremely low out-gassing rates in stainless steel materials to be used in the vacuum system of the ERL. The second part involves achieving high quantum efficiency of the ERL photo-cathode, and studying the effects of residual gas on the cathode dark current and lifetime.
