2005 Wilson Lab Open House

On June 11th 2005, a special Wilson Laboratory Open House was organized by LEPP as part of an ongoing effort to encourage the general public to tour the Lab and learn about the fascinating science that takes place here. As announced to the public during the opening remarks, the science at the Lab depends critically on the formula E = mc2. This recognition of Einstein's contributions to the research conducted at Wilson thoughtfully meshed the celebration of the World Year of Physics with our Open House festivities.

The Laboratory was open to visitors for over four hours, during which time over 600 attendees wandered the hallways and were both entertained and educated by Wilson staff members. A variety of demonstrations and hands-on activities were hosted by staff volunteers working at stations placed throughout the facility. Guided tours of the LEPP and CHESS research facilities were conducted on a continual basis. Free refreshments and door prizes rounded out the day's events.

Many thanks are extended to the efforts of the Wilson Lab volunteers as well as our numerous visitors. The hard work and enthusiasm of all people involved made the Wilson Lab Open House a tremendous success!
